Learning the board off
Learning the board off
We are going to be looking at the progression to learning the board off. Taking you from basic jumps, to jumps with grabs, one footers, and then onto board offs.
Over the past years, I have helped numerous friends learn this trick with a common issue being that they skip to the end goal rather than breaking the process down into more manageable steps. Another issue I've found is that sometimes they have been attempting a trick that is beyond their current skill level and they need to first achieve prerequisite tricks that make learning the board off much easier.
In this video, I break down the pathway to achieving the board off and demonstrate techniques that can assist with making this trick easier to learn once you're in the air. You will see a clear path to the progression to hopefully help you learn this trick quicker and easier with a few useful tips.
It's good to try to learn new tricks but it's also important to learn the right stages at the right time. It's not only more efficient but will also help you stay safer and reduce the chance of injuries.
5 top tips
1. Practicing the right stage at the right time in the correct conditions.
2. Bigger kites = More hang time & a slower more stable kite.
3. Practicing the board off on land and building up muscle memory is going to make it much easier when you are in the air.
4. Try to take the board off on the way up so your start to get the board back on at the top of your jump leaving you with plenty of time to focus on the landing.
5. If you don't go high be quick!
